Abstracción N7

Irene Cárdenas (Quito, 1920 – 1996) estudió en la escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad  Central y en el centro Ecuatoriano de Arte. Fue alumna de Jan Schreuder, Olga Fisch y Kurt Müller. En 1973 fue ganadora del Primer Premio “Medalla de Oro” de la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana y en 1977 obtuvo una Mención de Honor en el  I Concurso Nacional de Artes Plásticas del Banco Central del Ecuador. Participó en varias exposiciones internacionales como la IV Bienal de Sao Paulo en 1957,  la III y IV Bienal de Grabado de Puerto Rico de 1974 y 1976, respectivamente. Además con su trabajo en grabado fue parte de III International Graphics Annual en EE.UU (1975), VI Bienal Internacional de Grabado en Cracovia (1976), I Bienal de Grabado Ítalo-Latinoamericano de Roma (1978), VI Mostra de Gravora en Curitiba (1984) y la III Bienal Latinoamericana de Artes Gráficas del Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art (1986).
